This error is not that hard to fix if you have the basic knowledge on how to do it. You just need a few tricks and clicks to fix it, and that is what I am going to show you today.

I doubt if you have not experienced getting a “Your connection is not private” error. Actually, I’m getting this kind of issue for so many times, to the point that it is already annoying. That is why I wanna share with you what I did to fix it. And the methods I will show you are probably the common solutions most of the people are doing.

What does it Mean “Your Connection is Not Private”

The Internet offered a great powerful tool which all of us needs nowadays. It provides us with resources to learn and do everything. Such resources made our lives easier and convenient. However, the internet is also a powerful thing that attackers are using to steal information and use it in prohibited acts.

To protect ourselves, we are very limited to what we share on the internet especially our personal details. At any moment, there will be someone that will try to hack our connection and may collect every piece of information we have shared.

When you got an error message particularly the “Your connection is not private,” this means there is a problem with SSL. SSL stands for secure sockets layer which websites use to keep all the entered information private and secure.

So, how this error can be fixed?

There are many many ways on how you can fix “Your Connection is Not Private” error on your browser. Check the following methods and try these methods one by one if ever you encounter the SSL error.

Method 1: Check the Date and Time Setting on your Computer

Oftentimes, when we encounter internet problems (excluding router issues) are because of the inaccurate date and time. You just need to update your date and time settings by:

 Step 1. Go to your desktop and click on Date and Time. Click “Change Date and Time Settings.”

Step 2. Click the “Change Date and Time” button. You also need to check if your time zone is accurate to your country or region.

Step 3. Update the date and time and click “OK” button.

After updating the date and time, you should be able to access a website without any error. If not, move on to the second method.

Method 2: Clear your Browsing History

If updating your date and time does not work and you still get “Your connection is not private” message, you must clean your browser. There are times that we accessed unsecured websites or we downloaded software from third-party sites. Most of these websites come with a virus that can cause our web browser to crash. So it is better to clear our browser’s history on a regular basis.

To do the cleaning, do the following steps.

Step 1. Go to your browser’s settings and click “Advanced.”

Step 2. Scroll down and click “Clear browsing data”

Step 3. Tick the boxes to clear the browsing history, cookies and cache. Then click “Clear Data” button.

After doing those three easy steps, you need to exit your browser and open again. The error should be fixed by now. If it still not fixed, then, you need to do an advanced method. Let’s move on to the third.

Method 3: Check Antivirus or Firewall Settings

Antivirus software can also be a cause of “Your connection is not Private” error. So if ever you have installed an antivirus on your computer, you need to do some changes on to it. In here, I used Avast antivirus as an example, since it the antivirus I am using by now.

Step 1. The first thing you need to do is to launch Avast antivirus and go to Menu.

Step 2. Click “Settings” from the menu.

Step 3. Click on “Components > Web Shield > Customize.”

Step 4. Untick “Enable HTTPS scanning” and click “OK” button.

Restart your browser and check if these methods worked to fix the error.
